When Tolly celebs took the numerological path!

You may argue, what’s in a name! Well, for many Bengali celebrities it means a lot and accordingly, they have changed the spelling of their names for the betterment. When thoughts about luck and fortune take precedence over everything else, you may look into these interesting stories behind the connection between numerology and Tollywood celebs. Scroll down to know more.

NILANJANAA SENGUPTAA AND JISSHU U SENGUPTA

I believe in astrology, vastu and numerology, as these are pure sciences. In numerology, every alphabet of one's name corresponds to a number. If the sum total of the numbers in your name is in consonance with your astrological chart, it can have a positive influence on your life. Both Jisshu and I went to a very well-known numerologist in Mumbai ahead of our wedding and a lot of things changed after we followed his advice; life became much more positive. My name was spelt Nilanjana Sengupta before he suggested the spelling change. Jisshu used to sign as Jishu Sengupta, but now it has been changed to Jisshu U Sengupta. The `U' stands for his father's name Ujjwal. But he still writes Sengupta with single `a' while I use two.

GARGEE ROYCHOUDHURY

Numerology had nothing to do with my name change. It was a friend of mine from Kashmir, who is a numerologist, who scientifically explained to me why I should change the spelling of my name. I was convinced enough to change my name to Gargee. Then again, this spelling goes well with the way I spell my name in Bengali. Though it didn't really influence my career -all the film offers came to me when I was still Gargi -but my inner peace has doubled, if not tripled. I have a positive outlook now and that's what matters, isn't it?

RAJ CHAKRABARTY

When I came to Kolkata, my name was Raju Chakrabarty. I was a struggling director and Lady Luck was far from smiling on me. I did everything -from visiting every Kalibari to astrologer -to turn the tide in my favour. Then a friend asked me to consult a numerologist and I agreed, as I was willing to do anything to get a foothold in the industry. The numerologist tallied my birth time with my name's spelling and changed it to Raj. Slowly, things started looking up. I realized that numerology is indeed a science and it really worked for me.

INDRAADIP DAS GUPTA

I, as Chiradip Das Gupta, used to compose the same type of music before 2009, but no one knew me or appreciated my work. Now, after following a numerologist's advice for a name change, I'm getting so much of appreciation! I consulted a numerologist late in 2007, but it took me the whole 2008 to convince myself that it was logical to go for it. Numerology did change me as a person and that too in a positive way. If a person changes his perception of the surroundings then everything is bound to change with a bang! And that's exactly what happened with me; my professional and personal worlds became much more beautiful and positive. The numerologist had explained that a name, which was in sync with a person's birth time, generated a positive vibration. Every name has some positive and negative letters vis-à-vis the birth time and a numerologist calculates its influence keeping these things in mind so that the name generates positivity.

SAAYONI GHOSH

I'm restless and short-tempered, or rather, used to be. But things changed after a family friend suggested that I should consult a numerologist. It took me a second to agree, as I hated the way some people pronounced my name. The numerologist suggested that I should spell my name Saayoni, and not Sayani, as the double `a' would make it longer, which, in turn, would make me calm and patient. I don't know whether it was this change or my brother's sudden demise, but my parent' s say that I'm much more composed and matured now.

7/8

PAAYEL SARKAR

Numerology is considered to be among the most ancient and advanced sciences in the world. I consulted a numerologist and followed his advice around eight months back and yes, things have been pretty good both personally and professionally since then. I can feel an inner change. The positivity I feel inside is helping me lead a better life. The numerologist had said that one's name, especially the one that is used most often, could have a positive or negative impact on him/her depending on how much it was in sync with higher astrological profile. The more positive the impact, the better off the person is in life.

8/8

SONALEE CHAUDHURI

Numerology is pure science. So, I believe in it. I used to write Sonali, but then my best friend asked me whether my name was numerologically right. Till he explained numerology to me, I had no clue what it was. Then I went to a numerologist, who told me it was a special relationship between numbers and coinciding events and had many systems, traditions and beliefs. He did some calculations and suggested that I should change the spelling of my name to Sonalee; that the double `e' would have a positive impact on my life. It helped me as a person, as my approach towards life became more positive after the change.
