Independent filmmaker Aneek Chaudhuri, best known for his internationally acclaimed film ‘White’, is ready for his next ‘Cactus’. The experimental film with Jesus Christ in the center of the plot challenges many established Western traditions. What’s more fascinating is Aneek has cast a female actor Aparajita Dey as Jesus Christ. Sounds interesting right!
The world premiere of ‘Cactus’ will be at the Reaktor Indian Film Festival of Vienna scheduled to start later this month and ahead of its premiere here comes the official poster which gives you an idea of what to expect from this experimental film.

The film sheds light on the birth of Jesus Christ, his life and death, along with the depiction of The Last Supper from a different perspective. Aneek named the film ‘Cactus’ as the desert plant has the blemishes just like the thorny paths of our life.
‘Cactus’ also explores the character of Mother Mary. Oishani De will be playing Mother Mary before she gave birth to Christ and Anurupa Chakraborty will essay her after Christ dies, as we have seen in the famed creation Pieta by Michelangelo.
