For John Bhattacharyya, Durga Puja has always been about fun, adda, and soaking in the festive spirit with friends. "Pujo means fun, adda, and staying awake all night to visit pandals with friends. It’s always been very special for me," he shares. Despite being a travel enthusiast, John never considers leaving Kolkata during Pujo. "I’ve never gone out of Kolkata during Pujo—you just can’t get this feeling anywhere else."

Amidst the revelry, the highlight of his celebration remains the home-cooked meals prepared by his mother. "The most special moment for me in Pujo is eating food cooked by my mother. She only cooks during Pujao, and to me, she’s my Durga. The privilege of eating food cooked by her is something I eagerly look forward to every year," he says.

John’s top food picks during the festival are simple yet classic: "Phuchka, biryani, and fast food are always on my list."
