Tagore continues to inspire filmmakers

On the 155th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, two films are released in theatres. Nitish Mukherjee, the director of 'Char Adhyay', will release his film on May 6 which is based on Tagore���s short story . According to report in TheIndianExpress.com, Mukherjee said he had tried to retain the spirit of Tagore���s original work. Another film based on Tagore���s short story, 'Post Master' will also be released this month.

���Post Master���, directed by debutant filmmaker Srijon Bardhon, was screened in the last Delhi International Film Festival.Srijon said, ���I have set the backdrop in the rural Bengal of the 70s and and in my film the 13-year-old rural girl Ratan grew a little older.
Interestingly, both stories had been turned into films before, and Satyajit Ray has directed ���Post Master��� which formed one of the three films in the classic ���Teen Kanya���, ���Manihara��� and ���Samapti���.
