Saswata Chatterjee who has been in this industry for years feels that young actors are now slowly getting alienated from the audience and this trend concerns him.
In an interview with a news portal, the seasoned actor said that actors today are everywhere. They are snapped at the airport, at restaurants and even while walking their dog outside. According to him, when you start watching something too much, you get tired of it and that’s exactly what is happening. Saswata also added that celebs now share pictures and videos of their celebrations which others in the world cannot afford.
Elaborating further, the ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’ actor added that actors of this generation have started to alienate the audience by sharing photos from their exotic holidays and posting pictures of their lavish lifestyle. According to him, the audience can no longer relate to them. Saswata’s hero is someone who will achieve something big and bring a change and it isn’t happening.
Meanwhile, Saswata who is playing a key role in the Hindi adaptation of ‘The Night Manager’ co-starring
Anil Kapoor,
Aditya Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Ravi Behl, and Tillotama Shome feels that OTT is like reading a novel as it gives creators more freedom to tell their stories. It has the liberty of giving creators longer formats and due to its sheer reach and expanse, we can go home with the smaller characters, who otherwise remain in the background, and explore their worlds. We also get to see so many good actors, who we wouldn’t have otherwise been aware of. Actors like Jaideep Ahlawat from Paatal Lok or Rajesh Tailang from Delhi Crime would not have gotten such opportunities if not for streaming platforms.
