Parambrata happy to reprise his role in ‘Dwitiyo Purush’
Parambrata Chatterjee believes Abhijit Pakrashi, his character in Srijit Mukherji’s 2011 blockbuster ‘Baishe Srabon’ and the recently released ‘Dwitiyo Purush’, will stay with him forever. “It is one of the most important characters I’ve played. Abhijit is a fascinating and a fantastic character,” admits Parambrata. Not many in Bengali cinema get the opportunity to play a character across two films. While speaking about that, Parambrata says, “I am fortunate to have had this chance. At the same time, I’d like to say that I have utilised this opportunity to the fullest. In Dwitiyo Purush I’ve tried to bring out the difference in an older Abhijit. And I’ve got great feedback from viewers.” Those who have already seen the thriller ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ know that Abhijit (Parambrata) - a gentle, intellectual and law-abiding police officer - is actually the reformed murderer in the ‘Baishe Srabon’ sequel. So, how challenging was it to pull off such a character? Parambrata reveals, “I had to maintain a fine balance between the two facets of the character. Even though he has a brutal past, Abhijit remains an underdog through choice. As with Baishe Srabon, people have identified with Abhijit in Dwitiyo Purush also. He is a relatable character in spite of his gory past.”
