Mouni Roy might play Satyabati in Dev’s upcoming Byomkesh film! As soon as the rumour started doing the rounds it raised quite a few eyebrows. It came out of nowhere when an unconfirmed media report came with the shocking news. Although it was a baseless rumour fans were super excited about it. However, now Mouni herself has quashed all the rumours and has confirmed that there’s no truth behind this news.
Speaking to an entertainment portal the actress made it clear that she has no idea about this Byomkesh film and she’s not doing any Bengali film right now. Mouni further insisted that she doesn’t even know from where this rumour started doing the rounds. When asked about any Bengali films she has watched recently the ‘Brahmastra’ actor admitted that she hasn’t seen any of late but in her growing years Mouni has seen a lot of Uttam Kumar-Suchitra Sen films along with a few Satyajit Ray movies.
She also said that Bengali film industry is doing great these days and if there’s a good story and a great offer she will definitely act in Bengali films.
A few days ago speculation was rife that Mouni Roy will soon make her Tollywood debut opposite Dev in 'Byomkesh Durgo Rahasya' which is set to be directed by Birsa Dasgupta. While Dev will play the iconic sleuth Byomkesh, Mouni is likely to play Satyabati, wife of Byomkesh. It was also reported that actor Ambarish Bhattacharya will most likely play Ajit in the film. However, after Mouni’s latest revelation it is quite clear that this was nothing but rumours.
Meanwhile, shooting for the new Byomkesh film is set to start in May with an eye on August 15 release. Apart from this film, Dev also has the much-anticipated ‘Bagha Jatin’ biopic which will release duing Durga Puja this year.
