He wowed the Kolkata audience and won hearts with Bibaho Diaries and will soon spread more cheer with Happy Pill, but Mainak Bhaumick has an enviable lineup of films for the coming year too. If everything goes fine, he should direct Koel Mallick and

Jisshu U Sengupta

in a love story that will be shot around Durga Puja.
This has so far been a good year for Mainak. His Bibaho Diaries was lapped up by the audience after word-of-mouth spread like wildfire. The director announced Happy Pill soon after, which stars his Bibaho Diaries actress, Sohini Sarkar. About a medical college dropout who discovers a pill to make others happy, the film also stars Parno Mittra. The film will roll soon and his Chalachito Circus — stuck in the cans for two years — will also release this Puja. Amidst all of this, there’s news that the director has already finalised his next project with Nispal Singh, who is also Koel’s husband. Says a source from the production team, “Mainak will start Happy Pill soon. Meanwhile, he is working out the dates with Koel and Jisshu. Though the official announcement is awaited, the film will be shot around Durga Puja and will see a January release.” Koel, who has a release in August — Kaushik Ganguly’s Chhaya O Chhobi — is busy choosing the right projects. The actress clearly wants to switch over to meatier roles, a welcome departure in Tollywood. Watch this space for more.
