‘Googly’: Here’s why you can’t miss Abhimanyu Mukherjee’s rom-com

Starring the cute pair of Soham Chakraborty and Srabanti Chatterjee in the lead, Abhimanyu Mukherjee’s ‘Googly’ has already made the Bengali movie buffs curious about the film’s storyline. To add a cherry on top of it, the cuteness overloaded child actor Soumyodipta as Googly is winning hearts. The rom-com shows how two people Arjun and Dali with stammering problems tie the knot and get confused later about having a child as they become unsure about the destiny of their child Googly. Ahead of the film’s March 29 release, as we spoke to Soham, Srabanti, Abhimanyu and the child actor Soumyodipta they reveal why this film is a must watch for the cine buffs.

Abhimanyu Mukherjee

“It was a wonderful experience to work with the entire cast and crew, especially the kid Soumyodipta Saha. We often make fun of people who stammer and aren’t clear enough in their communication without looking much into their actual lives. We make them bound to live in another world by alienating them from the mainstream. The movie aims to spread the message that every person, irrespective of their disabilities should be accepted with wide arms. Soumyodipto, the kid delivers a powerful performance that will leave lasting impression on the mind of the viewers,” says Abhimanyu Mukherjee who is confident that ‘Googly’ will win the hearts of the audience.

Srabanti Chatterjee

Both Soham Chakraborty and Srabanti Chatterjee essay characters with speech problems and how a crisis changes their otherwise happy life forever is the crux of the ‘Googly’ story. Srabanti promises this time it’s a completely different story and people will be able to relate to it. “The audience has loved our pair till now, but I can assure Googly will introduce a very different us. We will be seen in roles that the audience will be able to relate to and the story line is also unique. I believe content is really important these days and considering that Googly scores a perfect ten,’ said the pretty actress.

Soham Chakraborty

“First time I am portraying a role that stammers. I have usually done romcoms so far but over the last few years I am consciously trying to be part of films that can challenge me as an actor. I have worked with Abhimanyu earlier and I am confident Googly will be welcomed by the audience,” insists Soham whose last, also directed by Abhimanyu, failed to live up to the expectations but this the popular actor is convinced ‘Googly’s story will receive appreciation from all corners.

5/5

Soumyodipta Saha

Child actor Soumyodipta Saha’s adorable antics and unbelievable energy makes everyone fall in love with him. The cute little kid plays the titular role of Googly whose life is somewhat different from others but he is already well aware of the mantra of staying happy forever. Soumyodipta is like the cynosure of the entire ‘Googly’ team. “I enjoyed the most while shooting for Googly. The best part was I enjoyed a lot during a park scene and one khela scene. When we were shooting for the park scene I was wearing a singh and was pulling everyone’s leg. My favourite is Srabanti di. Soham da is always busy with Twitter and Facebook. It’s not good. Amra ekta darun chobi baniyechi. Tomra sobai dekhte eso,” urges the adorable child actor.
