Buying gold and other precious metals on Akshaya Tritiya is considered auspicious – it brings wealth, fortune and prosperity to the household. CT spoke to a few Tollywood beauties to know what they plan to buy this Akshaya Tritiya to celebrate the festival like good old times after two years of muted celebrations in the pandemic.
My parents are gifting me gold jhumkas
Buying silver Lakshmi-Ganesh idols on Akshaya Tritiya is our family ritual.A puja is done with that idol. So, we will continue that tradition. Last year, we had to buy it online because of the pandemic, but I am going to get it from a store this year. I also plan to buy a pair of jhumkas as my parents wish to gift me something in gold.

Will buy a simple gold ring, as I splurged on a set recently
I recently bought a temple jewellery set in gold for my sister’s wedding. Every Akshaya Tritiya, my father used to gift Ma something in gold. She firmly believed that bringing precious items home on this occasion is a way to welcome Goddess Lakshmi. So, with Ma not there anymore, Baba and I try to follow the ritual. This year, I plan to buy a simple gold ring on Akshaya Tritiya as I have already spent a fortune on the temple jewellery.

Buying gold or silver on Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya is a ritual my parents follow strictly. Last year and the one before that, I helped Ma buy jewellery online, but we will go to the showroom this year. I love to wear jhumkas, so I have saved money to buy a pair of gold jhumkas on this auspicious day.

I believe in wearing minimalist jewellery and am fond of traditional designs. But, unfortunately, for the last two years, I couldn’t buy any ornaments on Akshaya Tritiya because of the pandemic. So, this year I have already placed an order for a diamond pendant, which will be delivered to me on Akshaya Tritiya.
