Gargee excited about her Byomkesh outing
Gargee Roychowdhury was blown away after she heard the script of Magno Mainak. “After a long time, I’ve heard a smart script. Anjanda has just killed it! At first, I was planning to say no to the film, as the character, Sukumari, doesn’t have much to do in the original story. But the way Anjanda has developed the character is amazing! After hearing the script, I’ve fallen in love with Sukumari.

The character has so many shades. It’s glamourous, has an aesthetic sense and at the same time, there is something about her that’s inexplicable,” said the actress, who will be working with Anjan Dutt as a director after Hemanta. “My first work with Anjanda was for the video, Ranjana Ami Aar Asbo Na, where I played Ranjana. I remember I had chili chicken for lunch on the first day of the shoot,” said the actress with a smile. “I am closer to Anjanda’s wife Chandadi (Dutt). I really respect her, as she has a mind of her own,” Gargee added.
Based on Sharadindu Bandhopadhyay’s Byomkesh Bakshi novel, Magno Mainak, will be directed by Sayantan Ghoshal. While Parambrata Chattopadhyay will essay the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, Rudranil Ghosh will be seen as Ajit. Ayoshi Talukdar and Supravat are also part of the cast. Anjan Dutt is the creative advisor and screenplay writer for the film.
“I found Sayantan quite a smart filmmaker. He speaks less, but his vision is very clear. I think he will be able to take the best out of me as an actor. The shooting will start from July, but my schedule is in August,” said Gargee.
According to a source in the production house, Magno Mainak will be followed by Durgo Rahasya, Shajarur Kanta, Achin Pakhi and Byomkesh o Boroda.
