Feluda has been an inspiration for Sayantan

All the four films director Sayantan Ghosal has made —

Jawker Dhan

in 2017, Alinangarer Golokdhandha in 2018 and Satyanweshi Byomkesh in 2019 and his latest release, Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan, are all thrillers and three of the films have something to do with treasure hunts. When we asked the director why he is drawn towards such films, he said that since childhood, he has been into books.

Like many other children of his age, Sayantan grew up reading Bengali fiction and started idolising

and Byomkesh. Even though he was a student of English, he loved to read in his mother tongue. “That’s probably why thrillers and treasure hunts have always come to my mind while making films,” he added. So, when he started making films, Sayantan would try to place those characters and situations in a film’s perspective. He was 16 or 17-years-old from when he started making short films and all these scenarios came to him since then.

Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan has got something similar. Those scenarios have turned into visual effects and screenplay for the film. Sayantan said the film is a visual extravaganza and the Bengali audience are loving it. He added that the VFX scenes were needed for the story and the script. It was not to create a gimmick.
