Subhrajit Mitra is in happy space and why not! His National Award-winning film ‘Avijatrik’ was recently announced as the Most Iconic Film of 2021 at the Telengana Bengali Film Festival, Aayna 2022. The critically acclaimed director was also felicitated at the film event. Subhrajit’s film had a special screening and the packed auditorium left him every bit emotional.
“I was so happy to see the film aficionados thronging the Bengali film festival. Avijatrik was not in any competition since we have already bagged the highest honour in the country, the National Award. So, the organizers arranged a special screening and I was so happy to see the audience response. My film was also named the Most Iconic Film of 2021 and I was felicitated too. I am thankful to the organizers and juries of the festival. This is the first time I attended the Telengana Bengali Film Festival. I received such a warm welcome from everyone,” shared the director.
There was also a very special moment for Subhrajit as he got the chance to meet the acclaimed film producer Akkineni Ramesh Prasad and it was indeed a lifetime experience for the ‘Avijatrik’ director. “I couldn’t believe when Akkineni Ramesh Prasad himself came to meet me after watching ‘Avijatrik’. Can you believe it? The legendary producer, the owner of iconic Prasad Studios sat with me and we discussed a lot of things. In fact, we spoke about certain plans for future projects. Despite being a legend, he’s so down to earth and soft spoken. I am truly humbled to meet Prasad ji,” added Subhrajit.
While his last film ‘Avijatrik’ has received so much love from both audience and critics alike the director is still basking on the glory of the film. However, there are quite a few projects in the pipeline and from next year his sole focus will be on them.
