’s famous novel ‘Ghare Baire’, everybody has been eagerly waiting for the social drama. The project is tentatively titled same as the novel and will be a key part of SVF’s package of 25 films which are slated for a release this year. The makers are reportedly eyeing a release date later this year.

Will there be any change in the subject? Aparna Sen recently gave an interesting hint as she claimed that the story of ‘Ghare Baire’ seems to be more relevant in current times and she wants to make the screen adaptation based on the present day context.

The original novel revolves around the backdrop of the early 20th century when there was chaos all around, after the then Governor General Lord Curzon decided to divide Bengal.

Satyajit Ray, touted as one of the greatest auteur world cinema has ever seen, had adapted 'Ghare Baire' on the celluloid in 1984. The film had a stunning cast including Victor Banerjee, Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta in key roles.

The director also revealed that she is currently busy finalizing the script and the cast hasn’t yet been selected.
