A three-way battle between Dev, Abir Chatterjee and Mithun Chakraborty! Take a look at this year’s Durga Puja releases

Bengal is counting days till Durga Puja. The season of festivities is just around the corner and Bengalis are gearing up to celebrate by doing pandal hopping, gorging on bhog, and checking in the theatres to watch the Puja releases. Like every year, Durga Puja is a time for big-banner Bengali film releases. This is the time when producers and filmmakers bank on the festive mood of the masses that are likely to splurge on entertainment. However, this year, keeping the RG Kar rape-murder incident in mind, filmmakers and producers have been a little unsure about the business of entertainment, as the common people have taken to the chant of ‘Utshobe Phirchhi Na’, which means, ‘We don’t want to celebrate festivities’. As a result, this year, there are only three films that are part of the Puja releases. Take a look.

‘Tekka’

‘Tekka’, helmed by none other than Srijit Mukherji stars Dev, Swastika Mukherjee and Rukmini Maitra in the lead roles. In addition to acting, Dev also serves as the producer of the film, which stars Tota Roy Chowdhury, Kaushik Sen, and others apart from the lead cast.

‘Bohurupi’

‘Bohurupi’ starring Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Koushani Mukherjee and Shiboprosad Mukherjee narrates a tale that’s inspired by some true events. Directed by Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, ‘Bohurupi’ aims to tell a story of a quintessential chase between a dacoit and a supercop. The story infuses a narrative of duel between the system and survival that promises a thrilling ride throughout the film.
