Her last outing ‘Kabir’ was a content oriented film, but Rukmini Maitra’a next ‘Kidnap’ is an out and out ‘masala’ film with loads of commercial elements. Like three earlier films, this one also sees Dev pitted opposite the Bengali beauty. Directed by Raja Chanda, ‘Kidnap’ is a romantic thriller and will be releasing during Eid on June 5.

In this film Rukmini plays a photojournalist Meghna. While the Chaamp’ actress herself is super excited to be a part of a commercial potboiler, only a few people know in recent times she had turned down two huge offers – one is Jeetz Production’s ‘Bachha Shoshur’ and second one is ‘Shesh Theke Shuru’ which is incidentally directed by Raj Chakraborty who was the director of her debut film ‘Chaamp’. Interestingly, both the film stars Jeet in the lead.

Rukmini couldn’t do ‘Bachha Shoshur’ because she had already given dates to Surinder Films for ‘kidnap’ at that time. For ‘Shesh Theke Shuru’, once again there were date issues. The London schedule clashed with Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s upcoming thriller ‘Password’.
Meanwhile, Rukmini’s ‘Kidnap’ will be up against a stiff box office challenge as Jeet’s ‘Shesh Theke Shuru’ is also releasing on the same day, June 5.
