Attack on BJP candidate an embarrassment for Goa CM, says Congress

: While demanding that

Goa Police

must immediately identify and apprehend the assailants who allegedly lobbed a bottle at BJP candidate Sidharth Kuncalienker, the Congress party also said that the incident proved that the state law and order machinery had failed.

Commenting on the incident, state Congress president

Girish Chodankar

said that the episode was an embarrassment for the BJP since it happened in the state capital.

“The chief minister must catch the person before the elections or the chief minister should resign because he could not protect his own candidate,” said Chodankar.

He further said that the late-night incident was an “embarrassment” for the BJP-led coalition government.

“The government is run by the BJP, the home minister is from the BJP and the person raising the issue is from the BJP,” Chodankar said.
