Rahul Gandhi holds 3 rallies in Uttarakhand , pitches NYAY, attacks Modi for acting against Hinduism
DEHRADUN/ALMORA/HARIDWAR: Reminding the people of
Gandhi who held three back-to-back rallies in the Himalayan state, at Srinagar, Almora and Haridwar, said that Modi spoke about Hinduism “but his actions were completely against it.” “The ‘guru-shishya parampara’ is ranked highly in Hinduism but the PM has shown disrespect to his guru LK Advani by kicking him out.”
The Congress president further said, “He (Modi) didn’t think for a moment when he took your money to give it to the likes of Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and Anil Ambani. And now, when the time has come for paying money to the poor as an income support, he is asking where will the money come from?”
In his speeches at all the three locations, Gandhi highlighted the Congress party’s poll promise of NYAY scheme saying, “Twenty percent of the poor will be given Rs 72,000 every year. If the heavens fall, let them. But the amount will be transferred to their accounts if we come to power.”
He also posed several questions to the audience. “Has the Ganga been cleaned? Have you got Rs 15 lakh in your bank accounts? Did you get two crore jobs every year as promised by the PM?” When they responded in the negative, he renewed his attack on the BJP government. “This is because ‘chowkidar chor hai’,” he claimed, triggering a chorus of assent by the audience.
The Gandhi scion termed the Lok Sabha polls as an ideological battle between the Congress and the BJP. “While Congress is for the poor, farmers and the backward sections of the society, BJP wants to divide India on the basis of rich and poor.”
Lashing out at the Modi government for demonetisation, he said that “the government’s reckless action had rendered millions jobless.”
Gandhi also promised filling up all 22 lakh vacant posts in government departments, jobs for 10 lakh youths in panchayats, doing away with the requirement of government permission for doing business for three years and provisioning a separate annual budget for farmers.
