NAINITAL: Uttarakhand high court on Tuesday dismissed a plea seeking cancellation of nomination of Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, BJP candidate from Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency, and asked the petitioner to file an election petition.
The petition was filed by Manish Verma, a resident of Haridwar, who has also filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency.
Verma had alleged that Nishank had ‘undervalued his assets’ while filing nomination papers. Verma was earlier in the BJP but rebelled against the party and filed independent nomination.
“The honourable court told us to approach the court through an election petition as challenging a candidate’s nomination falls under the ambit of an election petition. We will file it on Wednesday,” said Verma.
The matter was heard before single bench of justice Alok Singh.
