MUSSOORIE: In a bid to
intensify
their election campaigns, both BJP and Congress opened poll offices in
Mussoorie
on Thursday.
While BJP leaders hailed Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s leadership at the inauguration ceremony, Congress leaders slammed the PM for failing to deliver on his promises.
“We have to work hard at the booth level and have to inform the voters about the achievements of the Modi government during the past five years,” interim state president of BJP Naresh Bansal said, while inaugurating the BJP office. He also praised the Trivendra Singh Rawat-led BJP government in
Uttarakhand
and said that the state had made significant progress during the past two years. BJP state working committee member Kailash Pant and Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi were present at the inauguration.
Meanwhile, the Congress poll office was inaugurated by former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola along with former municipal corporation president
Manmohan Singh Mall. However, no state level Congress leader was present at the office inauguration.
Gunsola questioned PM Modi’s promises of depositing Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts of the poor, providing jobs to youth and eliminating poverty. The Congress leaders also accused Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, BJP MP from Tehri, of ignoring her constituency alleging that there is a strong anti-incumbency wave against her.
