Government provided loans to Rs 4.75 crore people: PM Narendra Modi
UDAIPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that no more would anybody get away by not repaying bank loans.
“A rich man can no longer have a sound sleep if he does not pay back the bank loans. No one would be allowed to flee the country and those who already have, he will be brought back like the naamdar's Michelle mama," said Modi, during his election rally in Udaipur.
"Our government has punished the people who usurp money of banks. Their properties have been seized and have given respect to the honest taxpayers," Modi said.
Attacking the Congressled UPA government, Modi said, "The previous government used to give loans on phone to their billionaire friends. On the other hand, we have provided guaranteed loans to 4.75 crore people - poor, tribals and youth."
Highlighting the success of BJP-led NDA government, Modi said the 300 new passport centres, including one in Udaipur, were opened in the country in the last five years. "The previous Congress government had robbed you of it," he added.
"In the last five years, the number of tourists coming from abroad in India has increased. Revenue from tourists has increased. The people of Rajasthan have directly been benefitted from this," the PM said.
Prime Minister Modi also attacked the Congress government for not fulfilling the promise of farmers' loan waiver in Rajasthan.
