Can Narendra Modi contest from any of the southern states like Rahul Gandhi: Abhishek Manu Singhvi
JODHPUR
:Rajya Sabha
MP and Congress spokespersonAbhishek Manu Singhvi
challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contest election from any southern state. Rubbishing the justification of Rahul Gandhi’s decision to contest from Wayanad in Kerala because of large population of minorities like Muslim and Christians,Singhvi
said that 50% population of Wayanad are Hindus.Taking a dig at the BJP government’s promises, Singhvi said that this manifesto does not have only two things and those are ‘jumlebazi’ and ‘fenkubazi’. “This manifesto is unprecedented in all respects. Such manifesto has never been made by any party ever. But this manifesto does not have ‘jumlebazi’ and ‘fenkubazi’ in it,” Singhvi said.
Pointing to three components of the manifesto including NYAY scheme, Kisan budget and MGNREGA, Singhvi said that all the claims about these schemes are verifiable and BJP has unjustifiably raised questions on their practicality. Referring to the claims of BJP to double farmers’ income by 2022, Singhvi said that the agricultural development has dropped to 1.9% now against the 4% of UPA government.
“It is a cruel joke for the farmers. What do they mean by doubling the farmers’ income since it has already fallen to less than half in BJP rule,” Singhvi said adding that they knew that they are not going to come back and making this claim will not harm.
He further alleged that the BJP government had stated in its manifesto in 2014 that food processing clusters will be developed. “But they proceeded at a snail’s pace that the policy in this direction was framed four years later in 2018 by the BJP govt,” he said.
Talking about the tall claims by BJP regarding the Smart City project, Singhvi said that they could spend only 7% of the total budget of Rs. 2.03 lakh crores and could hardly turn 8 cities into smart cities out of 100 and those too just on papers.
