PATIALA

: The Election Commission on Tuesday issued a warning to Congress candidate from Fatehgarh Sahib parliamentary constituency Amar Singh to be careful in future while making any statements during the election campaign for the current elections.


Divulging details Punjab chief electoral officer (CEO) S Karuna Raju said that Darbara Singh Guru, SAD candidate from Fatehgarh Sahib, had submitted a complaint against his political rival Amar alleging that he made highly objectionable false allegations against him in an election meeting at Ahmedgarh of

Sangrur district

on April 22. The remarks appeared in the electronic and print media also, it was alleged.

The CEO said that the Congress candidate had tendered unconditional apology to the poll panel Commission for any lapse on his part in this matter.

Raju said that the commission has found that the Congress candidate violated the provision of the model code of conduct. He was warned to be more careful in future while making any statements during the election campaign.
