On Wednesday, Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh visited Dera Beas and held meeting with sect chief Gurinder Singh for about two hours. According to sources Amarinder was accompanied by PPCC president Sunil Jakhar and in-charge Punjab Congress affairs Asha Kumari.

In the recent past, BJP leader Nitin Gadkari had also visited Dera Beas and met Gurinder Singh.

Every effort was made to keep the visit of Congress leaders and their meeting with the dera chief a secret. Stangely, neither any dera spokesperson nor Congress leaders here were ready to divulge the details of the meeting .

Amritsar district Congress president Jatinder Sonia feigned ignorance about the visit, saying, “We didn’t get any intimation of the chief minister’s visit.”
