Lok Sabha elections: Team to probe Adsul’s plaint against Ranas

AMRAVATI: Acting on a complaint filed by Shiv Sena candidate Anandrao Adsul against his arch rival

Ravi Rana

(MLA) and his wife Navneet Rana, who is Congress-NCP supported independent candidate, the divisional commissioner Piyush Singh has appointed a six-member committee to

probe

into the allegations and asked it to submit a report in eight days.

Adsul had complained that the Ranas had availed a loan of Rs12.50 lakh from Punjab National Bank’s Mumbai branch by mortgaging government

land

that was given to their education society for constructing a building of a proposed polytechnic

college

. The six-member probe team will be headed by upper collector. The Ranas have already denied the allegation.

Adsul had alleged that Ravi Rana-run Rana Education Society, in which Navneet is vice president, was allotted 2.39H R E class government land at survey no. 49/2 in Sainagar for constructing a polytechnic college building. But, instead of building the college building, the Ranas mortgaged the said land with PNB’s Shivaji Park branch in Mumbai for a loan of Rs12.50 crore and used it for constructing a school, thereby violating the terms and conditions of the government land allotment, Adsul alleged.
