NSS students to help cops with election work in Pune

PUNE: Ten students from each college in the city will be appointed as ‘police mitra’ during the election period.

The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has sought names of students, who are part of the

National Service Scheme

(

NSS

), to help the police with work related to election duty.

Director of NSS at the university Prabhakar Desai said, “Pune will vote on April 23 and the city police has requested for the student population to help in the bandobast work. We will select ten students from each college and they will be trained by the police to help them out on polling day.”

The selected students will be engaged with the police team from April 20 to 23.

The students will have to be present at the university on April 18 at 12.30pm.

They will be trained for one day at the environment science department.

Prabhakar Desai said, “It will be a good opportunity for the youngsters to gain practical experience during such an important event in the country.”
