Man who ate into Narayan Rane’s votebank joins Congress

MUMBAI: Four years after he ate into Congress candidate from Bandra East assembly constituency Narayan Rane’s votes, helping Shiv Sena’s Trupti Sawant win, MIM leader Raja Rahbar Khan joined the grand old party. In the 2015 bypoll, Khan stood third with 15,050 votes.

“It is ghar wapsi of Khan. He had gone to MIM from NCP, which was once part of Congress. This year’s election is for the soul of India. We are glad to see Khan coming to Congress,” said Baba Siddiqui, ex-MLA and a close aide of Priya Dutt, the Congress nominee from North Central in which Bandra East falls. MIM legislator Waris Pathan said Khan’s switching over was inconsequential.
