Maharashtra will use 96,000 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines for the Lok Sabha elections. While 1.35 lakh VVPAT machines will be provided, the additional ones will be placed in the custody of zonal election officers.
The VVPAT machine will issue a receipt within seven seconds with details of the name of the candidate, party symbol and serial number of the candidate on the ballot paper so a voter can confirm that the vote has gone to the party it was intended for.
