"We have documents to show that Mahajan is a

wilful

defaulter of Punjab National Bank and has suppressed the information from the ECI and CEO... We will submit a comprehensive petition to ECI and the CEO," Sawant told mediapersons.

"People like Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya and Mehul Choksi fled the country without clearing dues to a nationalised bank. Now, we have found Mahajan too has emerged a wilful

defaulter

as per observations of the credit rating agency, Cibil," Sawant said.

Sawant said, Poonam Mahajan is a guarantor for a loan secured by her husband, which she had not disclosed in her affidavit. "We've been told that now she will not be eligible to secure loans," Sawant said.

Mahajan's total assets stood at Rs 12 crore in 2009, rose to Rs 108 crore in 2018 and in 2019 reduced to Rs 2 crore. "It is high time RBI conducts a probe into accounts of her family and amount written off," Sawant said.

Mahajan denied the allegations, saying that so far she has not got any notice from the banks, proposing to declare her as a wilful defaulter. "I have made all efforts, within my means to repay loans for which I stood as personal guarantor and the question of declaring me a wilful defaulter does not arise," she said in a statement.

Mahajan added that after her husband's business failed, she has repaid all dues by selling personal assets.
