Encouraged by exit polls, BJP flexes muscle in Madhya Pradesh
BHOPAL
: Enthused by the exit polls, the BJP inMadhya Pradesh
seems to have started playing a psychological political game with the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh. Leader of the opposition Gopal Bhargava said he would be writing a letter to the governor to convene the assembly session soon after theLok Sabha polls
are declared on May 23.Congress minister Govind Singh
said, “let the opposition mind its own business. The government is not run by its dictate.”Talking to TOI in Bhopal on Monday, Bhargava said , “ I am not talking about any floor test in the house, but in the changed political scenario after the exit polls, it has become necessary to call an assembly session to discuss issues.”
“The BJP is in no hurry to form the government”, he said, adding, “ neither I believe in horse trading nor do we intend to do so”. He then hastened to add, “But this government will collapse under its own wait”.
“If the government comes up with good budget than its okay, if they don’t, we would call for division of votes when the budget is passed, if they have enough numbers, the government will survive or it would fall”, he explained.
Bhargava claimed that the Congress government has lost its mandate after Lok Sabha polls. When asked how Lok Sabha elections were related with the Vidhan Sabha polls which were held in November last year, Bhargava said,“ During the election rallies , whenever we asked the people about the state government, they would say they are fed up with the government and raise their hand in favour of a change.”
If Bhargava is to be believed, there was a total confusion in the state about the “stability” of the government. Bureaucracy is also confused whether the government would last or fall, he claimed.
“We want such issues to be discussed in the House . We want to discuss the contemporary issues in the assembly and which is why we want to convene the session”, he said.
