Gehlot asks: Does Lord Ram belong only to BJP?
JODHPUR: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said on Sunday that if the verdict of the Supreme Court had come during Congress rule, the party would have built the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and handed it to the Shankaracharya, unlike the BJP.
Campaigning for his son Vibhav Gehlot in Sirohi district, Gehlot addressed various public meetings at Abu Road, Saroopganj and Reodar. He asked the audience if Lord Ram only belonged to the BJP and not to the Congress as much.
Condemning the BJP for misuse of Constitutional agencies, Gehlot claimed that if the BJP won this election, there would be either no election again or it would on the lines of elections in countries like Russia, North Korea and China.
Appealing for votes in favour of Vaibhav, Gehlot said that he had done a lot of development work in Jodhpur and if Vaibhav won, the same kind of development will be done in Jalore and Sirohi.
“There were no such schemes ever introduced in Rajasthan in 70 years as the ones that I introduced here,” Gehlot claimed, citing schemes like Chiranjeevi and Mahatma Gandhi English-medium schools.
He slammed the BJP for discontinuing the Annapurna free ration scheme and urged the Bhajan Lal government to continue it for the sa ke of poor people. “They stopped the scheme because the kits had my picture. If there was a problem with my picture, they could have replaced it with chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s,” he said.
Gehlot has been continuously campaigning in Jalore and Sirohi for his son Vaibhav, urging people to ensure his victory. Leading from the front, Gehlot has been trying his best to put up a united show of his party in Jalore and Sirohi by keeping all the main leaders together.Elections 2026 mark a pivotal year for democratic processes across various regions in India and globally.
