Ganganagar constituency of Rajasthan Lok Sabha Election 2024: Date of voting, result, candidates list, main parties, schedule

The Ganganagar Lok Sabha constituency is situated in the north-western region of Rajasthan. As per the 2011 census, the population of this region is 2,749,150, with 73.28% residing in rural areas and 26.72% in urban areas. Among the total population, 33.52% belong to the Scheduled Castes.

Additionally, this region, adjacent to Punjab, also boasts a significant Sikh population. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BJP's Nihalchand Meghwal retained the seat, securing 8,97,177 votes. Bharat Ram Meghwal of Congress received 4,90,199 votes.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Nihalchand Meghwal of the BJP secured victory by receiving 6,58,130 votes.

His appointment as a minister of state in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet marked the first instance of a minister being appointed from the border areas of Ganganagar-Hanumangarh.

The date of voting for the Ganganagar constituency of Rajasthan is April 19 (Phase 1). The date of counting and announcement of results is June 4.

In the serene and agriculturally rich landscapes of Ganganagar and Hanumangarh, the political atmosphere is charged with anticipation and a quest for change. The region, known for its pivotal role in Rajasthan’s agricultural output, is at the forefront of a significant electoral battle once again.

Aiming to retain its stronghold, the BJP has introduced a strategic shift in its candidacy by nominating Priyanka Balan, the party’s first woman candidate from the Ganganagar Lok Sabha seat.

In this electoral contest, the stakes are high for both BJP and Congress. The outcome will not only determine the representative for Ganganagar in the Lok Sabha, but also signal the direction of political winds in a region that is emblematic of Rajasthan's agrarian landscape.
