Alathur candidate Ramya Haridas against LDF convener A Vijayaraghavan for allegedly making sexually loaded and derogatory comments against her. Both decisions by police were based on legal advice by the director general of prosecution (DGP).

“We sent statements from Ramya Haridas and the clarification given by Vijayaraghavan to the DGP. The DGP, after studying our report, advised that no case can be taken against Vijayaraghavan. Accordingly, we decided not to proceed with the case,”

Range IG Balram Kumar Upadhyay said. On the complaint against Raghavan, UDF leaders said, “the forensic examination of the visuals is not over and its authenticity not established yet”. They alleged that while the Modi government was blatantly misusing CBI and I-T department against political opponents, “the game CPM is playing is worse.”
