Congress losing seats will weaken efforts to oust PM Narendra Modi: AK Antony
KANNUR: The number of seats lost by Congress party in this
“The practice is that the single largest party or the largest pre-election coalition is called to form the government, so the Congress and the political front it leads should come first to bring down the Modi government. The Congress alliance should have at least one seat higher than the BJP-led NDA,” he said addressing a ‘meet the press’ here on Monday.
Antony also said the Congress has formed the alliance in most of the places except Uttar Pradesh, but the character of the postpoll alliance could be discussed only after the results are out. To keep the BJP out of power, the Congress would seek anybody’s support, he said.
“If the BJP comes to power again, the India of our tradition will no longer be the same as the qualities like unity in diversity, polyphony and equality to everybody, which we have achieved over the years, would be gone,” said Antony.
At the same time, this election should also teach the LDF government a lesson, he said. “The LDF government has two more years left in office and in order to make them shed arrogance and rule properly, they should be taught a lesson now,” Antony said.
There was a culpable failure on the part of the LDF government in handling the flood situation. He said there was an effort to divide the people in the name of Sabarimala by the CPM and the BJP also did the same, Antony said.

election will reduce the possibility of bringing down the Narendra Modi government.
