Can’t trust Congress in fight against communalism: Pinarayi Vijayan
KOCHI
: Most of the ministers, MPs and MLAs in the BJP are leaders who defected from Congress. There is no guarantee that Congress candidates for LS polls, if elected, would not do the same, said chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, at Vytila in Ernakulam on Monday.Speaking at the election campaign meeting for LDF candidate in Ernakulam constituency, P Rajeeve, Vijayan said that Congress leaders defect to BJP because they too pander to majoritarian communalism. “Congress cannot take solid stance against communalism. Trust is the most important when it comes to voting and only those who are opposed to
communalism
in a non-compromising way should be elected,” he said. The chief minister also spoke at campaign meetings in Mattancherry and Paravur apart from Ponnurunni on Monday.Speaking at the campaign meeting in Paravur, Vijayan said some people are hell-bent on disrupting Kerala’s development by creating unnecessary controversy around the masala bond issued by KIIFB.
“It is as absurd as saying that you cannot borrow money from State Bank of India just because they lend money to the likes of Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya,” he said.
