Dr Singhraj is a

homeopath

and a retired employee of Tata Steel. He now runs a school in Dhanbad’s Kusum Vihar. He first plunged into the electoral battle when he contested for the Sindri assembly seat in 2004. In 2009, Dr Singhraj became more ambitious and fought for the two assembly seats of Sindri and Dhanbad. A year later, he fought for the post of deputy mayor of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation but lost. The homeopath had always fought for the elections as an independent and had never won an election.

Now, Dr Singhraj has started his campaigning though the nomination filing process for the Dhanbad seat is yet to begun. Further, he is yet to get an election symbol as he will will be fighting as an independent. He said, “It took me 14 days to convince the Dhanbad SDO to issue permit for my campaigning. I told him that since I am moving in motorised thela, it would be difficult for me to cover the whole constituency spread over the vast area in a short time. Realising my problem, the office issued me the permission.”

The homeopathic

doctor

claimed that he has declined both AAP and HAM of Bihar feelers to fight under their party banners.

A Shiksha Ratan awardee, Dr Singhraj said his poll plank is to provide vocational education to everyone in the constituency. He is popularly known as Chacha Nehru in his area because of his popularity among the poor children for offering vocational courses. He further said the school he runs is his only source of income. “If I win, I want to ensure that all poor children get the minimum basic facilities. All national political parties are fooling the people and are involved in Dikhawa (show off) more than doing public good,” he claimed.

He added, “I have also formed a party named Lal Bahadur Shashtri Janhit Party to fulfil my vision. My aim is to provide Rs 2,000 as pension to all the citizens of the country and provide employment oriented education to all children of the country.”
