DALTONGANJ: District
Congress units in Palamu and Garhwa are on the boil over chief minister Raghubar Das’s remark where he allegedly called leaders of the Grand Old Party as chot-ta log (loosely translated as idiots). The party is now planning to lodge a formal complaint to EC besides filing a defamation suit against Das.
Addressing a joint press conference at Congress Bhavan in Daltonganj, the party’s Palamu district president Jeyes Ranjan Pathak said, “In reply to a query regarding the impending water crisis in Palamu by a journalist, Das referring to ‘Congressiya (read Congress) and
RJD as ‘chot-ta log’ asked journalists to question leaders of opposition parties who had MPs and MLAs here for long.
We object to such unparliamentary language.” Jeyesh Ranjan Pathak was accompanied by his Garhwa counterpart Arvind Toofani at the press conference.
He added, “Even before the summer, Palamu is already under water crisis. Rather than answering to the problems, Das, as head of the state, chose to abuse Congress.” Pathak also played a video clip of Das’s remark to prove their claims.
Toofani said, “Verbal abuse by the CM shows his panic mindset. The public mood is against the BJP this elections. Such utterances and expressions exposes the CM’s hopelessness in the outcome of the Lok Sabha polls.”
Zonal spokesperson of Congress, Binod Tiwary, a noted lawyer, said they are planning lodge a complaint with the
Election Commission and file a defamation suit against Das. He said, “We are planning to lodge complaint with EC of such abuse by Das who holds a constitutional chair. After the court opens post Sarhul, we are also planning to file a defamation suit against him.”
