DALTONGANJ: BJP’s sitting MP V D Ram and RJD’s Ghuran Ram, the candidate of the mahagathbhandhan in Palamu parliamentary seat, filed their nomination papers accompanied by high-powered endorsers from their parties on Saturday. The day also witnessed high-octane rallies with both sides trading charges of polarizing voters.
Chief minister Raghubar Das held a rally at Shivaji Maidan to campaign for V D Ram in the morning.
Thereafter, the CM and other senior party leaders rode a rath to reach the Palamu collectorate, where Ram filed his nomination. Later in the day, former deputy chief minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav was at Gandhi Maidan to campaign for the RJD candidate after he filed his nomination around noon.
In his 29 minute speech, chief minister Das mentioned ‘Pakistan’ and ‘Army’ several times and accused Congress of having a soft corner for the neighbouring country.
Unlike UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s controversial reference to the Army as ‘Modiji ki sena’, Das was cautious with his words. Comparing the mahagathbandhan with ‘keechad’ (filth), Das said, “It is where the lotus will sprout again.”
Meanwhile, Tejashwi’s speech focused on raising concerns of unemployment and accused Modi of diverting the attention of the voters from core issues by making references to Pakistan, Jammu & Kashmir and temples and mosques.
