Seven nominations rejected, now 25 to contest in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: A day after the filing of

nominations

for the Haryana Lok Sabha elections got over, the election officer rejected the nominations of seven candidates, while two other candidates withdrew their papers on Wednesday. The papers of candidates from major parties — Congress, BJP, JJP-AAP and INLD — were found correct. At present, there are 25 candidates in the fray in the Gurugram constituency.


Officials said the window to withdraw nominations is open till Friday, following which the election symbol will be allotted to the candidates.

Manmeet Kaur Nanda scrutinised the nomination papers and rejected the same of seven candidates on technical grounds.

Captain Ajay Yadav was found correct, therefore the papers of his wife, a covering candidate, was cancelled. Similarly Manita Singh, wife of BJP candidate Rao Inderjeet Singh had filed her nomination as his covering candidate. The nomination of Inderjit was found correct and nomination of his wife was cancelled.

The nomination of Ramesh Chandra, who had filed the papers as a covering candidate for INLD candidate Virender Rana, was also cancelled.

Apart from this, nominations of Rachna Kumari from Bahujan Mukt Party, Saiyad Azad Hussain Zaidi from

Rashtriya Lok Swaraj Party

, Inshan Singh (independent) and Nasir Khan (independent) were rejected.

Meanwhile, two candidates Satbir from

JJP

and Pooja Tyagi from Daksh Party withdrew their nominations.
