CHANDIGARH: At least 65 companies of

Central Armed Police Forces

(

CAPF

) are likely to be deployed in Haryana to ensure free and fair

Lok Sabha elections

.

Haryana DGP

Manoj Yadava

said on Friday that Centre has already given its nod to give 65 companies to Haryana. Out of these, first contingent of three companies of the BSF has already reached the state to help state police maintain law and order and two more companies would arrive very soon.

The remaining companies of CAPF would reach Haryana after the fifth phase of polling. Apart from this, more than 50,000 Haryana Police personnel, including home guards and special police officers, would also be pressed into service.

Yadava said that preparations are on at every level to ensure fair and incident-free Lok Sabha elections.

Yadava said that Haryana Police are constantly in touch with the police in neighbouring states as well to ensure prevention of possible trespassing of criminals and other anti-social elements.

"We have got a list of around 400 proclaimed offenders, bail jumpers from neighbouring states who belong to Haryana. Our police teams are constantly conducting raids to nab these criminals and dozens are being arrested every day. Apart from this, Special Task Force (STF) is efficiently and effectively functioning to deal with the organised crime," Yadava said
