Haryana, renowned as the stronghold of the Jat community, boasts a unique political landscape shaped by regional complexities and influential voting blocs, notably the formidable Jat community, constituting a significant 29 percent of the electorate. The pivotal role of Jat voters in influencing the electoral outcomes in Haryana, particularly during Lok Sabha elections, cannot be emphasized enough.

In the 2019 Indian general elections, Haryana allocated 10 Members of Parliament (MPs) to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the dominant force in Haryana, clinching a sweeping victory by securing all 10 parliamentary seats. BJP's triumph in Haryana significantly bolstered its overarching success in maintaining power at the national level.

Opposition parties, including the Indian National Congress, and regional contenders like the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), suffered a notable setback as they failed to secure any seats in the state.

The 2019 Haryana state elections witnessed a notable shift in political dynamics. Despite facing anti-incumbency sentiments, BJP emerged as the single largest party, capturing 40 seats in the 90-member assembly. However, it fell short of a majority, necessitating coalition politics. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the Congress Party, with 31 seats each, emerged as significant players. The Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), led by Dushyant Chautala, emerged as a kingmaker, securing 10 seats. However, in March 2024, former CM Manohar Lal Khattar and his entire Cabinet resigned following a rift in the alliance between the JJP and BJP. Nayab Saini was sworn in as the new CM, with BJP nominating Khattar from the Karnal constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
