JIND: Former
Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has stepped up his election campaign by holding subsequently road show in every segment of
Sonipat
constituency in his modified mini bus called "Rath".

Ambala
, Nirmal Singh in
Kurukshetra
, his son and three-time MP Deepender Hooda in
Rohtak, and for himself in Jind.
He starts his campaign at around 8 am, meets his supporters at home and after that moves to seek votes with a cavalcade of around a dozen SUVs. Like an experienced politician, he shakes hands with people to seek personal touch to everyone.
When asked about a comparison this election and his previous poll fight against Devi Lal, Hooda stated, "Then I was up against the deputy Prime Minister. Those were tougher contests. This is relatively easier polls. In fact, BJP's poor performance has made it easy for me." He said the BJP was now seeking votes while trying to rake up emotive issue of nationalism as it didn't have a report card of their five-year tenure to show to the people. He added that no Modi wave or other issues would work this time in Haryana and the Congress was in strong position.
The Congress stalwart, who had won three Lok Sabha elections against former deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal in a row in 1990s, looked confident during his campaign. While speaking to TOI he asserted that this time also he would beat his rivals, including Devi Lal's fourth generation and JJP candidate Digvijay Chautala, and BJP candidate Ramesh Kaushik.
Sonipat comprises nine assembly constituency, including three segments of Jind district Jind, Safidon and Julana. The triangular fight between BJP candidate Ramesh Kaushik, JJP's Digvijay Chautala and Bhupinder Singh Hooda of the Congress has become a matter of stake for everyone.
