former Ambala MP Suraj Bhan

, is cropping as a probable candidate for the

Ambala

Lok Sabha seat. Arun confirmed to TOI that he has claimed the ticket for this parliamentary constituency, but the final decision is to be made by the top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Arun is associated with the BJP for a long time and he has served as in-charge of different wards in several municipal corporation elections at Gurugram, Yamunanagar, Chandigarh, and Panchkula.

Suraj Bhan has been a four-time MP from Ambala constituency in 1967, 1977, 1980, and 1996.

On Tuesday, Arun talked to TOI and claimed his candidature for the Ambala seat which is reserved for the scheduled caste candidate. He said, “I have been working on the duties appointed by the party with dedication and people of Ambala are well connected to me.”

When questioned that incumbent Ambala MP Ratan Lal Kataria is also claiming the party ticket again from Ambala, Arun said, “Kataria Ji is our senior leader and he has been working hard. There are four-five names, but the top claim is of Kataria ji and if not him, I am confident that the second number is mine and party would allow me to serve the public.”

Congress has already declared the candidature of Kumari Selja who has also been a two-time MP from Ambala. When questioned about the fight between him and Selja, Arun said, “Due to my stature and reputation in Ambala areas and the amount of status earned by my father in this area, I am confident that I would defeat Selja by a big margin.”

Asked a question about performance of MP Kataria, Arun said, “I could not comment on this.”

As per sources, the other names of MLA Sadhaura Balwant Singh who is also the father-in-law of Arun, MP Ratan Lal Kataria and his wife Banto Kataria, and MLA Mullana Santosh Sarwan have cropped up for claiming ticket from the Ambala Lok Sabha constituency.

Sources also disclosed that as caste-based politics is going to play a huge role in Ambala constituency as LSP-BSP candidate Naresh Saran, Congress candidate Kumari Selja and probable BJP candidate Arun Kumar belong to the same community.
