Will follow PM Modi’s ‘na khaunga, na khane dunga’ mantra for Goa

PANAJI: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that he is committed to providing the people of the state a corruption-free administration.

Addressing the around 30,000 people present for the public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor stadium, Sawant said that in keeping with the PM’s slogan

‘na khaunga

,

na khane dunga’

(neither will I indulge in corruption, nor allow anyone else to indulge in it), he promised to provide the people of the state a “corruption-free administration”.

Recalling former chief minister Manohar Parrikar and his visionary mind, Sawant said, “We have to develop Goa in different way. I want your support to fulfil Parrikar’s dreams,” adding that to achieve this the people of Goa have to bring back the Modi government in Delhi.

The chief minister spoke about the various issues facing the state, including the sensitive mining issue which has been plaguing the BJP-led government in the state. Offering assurance to mining dependants and striking a cord of empathy, Sawant said he himself hails from the mining belt, where 90% of the people’s livelihood comes from the industry.

“If anyone can solve the mining issue, then it is BJP state and central governments. I am committed to solving the mining issue legally and am confident of doing so,” he said.

Unemployment is a major issue in the state, which was only compounded by the shutting down of the mining industry and the chief minister said BJP was also committed to providing jobs, including in the public andprivate sector and self-employment. “We will be committee for next three years to provide employment to Goans,” he said.

The chief minister said he was confident that people of the Goa will give BJP a decisive mandate in all the four

and parliamentary elections.
