Goa's chowkidars follow Modi's lead, rip into opposition
SAFFRON WAVE: The live session drew a large crowd in Mapusa
MAPUSA/MARGAO: BJP men took the opportunity to interact with the public during the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' on Sunday. While in Mapusa chief minister Pramod Sawant addressed the people after the telecast, in Curchorem, power minister Nilesh Cabral, state BJP president Vinay Tendulkar, and Sanvordem MLA Deepak Pauskar appealed to the electorate to bring Modi back.

Mapusa and Curchorem were among the 500 places chosen for Modi's live interaction. Though Goa didn't get the opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister, the mood was electric with people cheering everytime he tore into the opposition. The 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' saffron caps worn by the audience resonated with the theme of the event.
Sawant asked them bring Modi back and expressed confidence that BJP will win both Lok Sabha seats in Goa. "Congress has no agenda. Hence their agenda from Delhi to galli is to spread fake agenda. We have to defeat the fake agenda of Congress and take forward Modi's legacy," he told the 350-strong gathering at Mapusa.
Women wearing hizabs intently listened to Modi in Curchorem. "We also hear his Mann ki Baat programmes on the radio regularly. Whichever issue he chooses to speak on tugs at our heartstrings. So when we were told that we could interact with Modi directly, I came here with my family to listen to Modi," Salim Abbas told TOI.
Joining the chief minsiter in Mapusa were BJP's candidate for the Mapusa bypolls Joshua D'Souza, former ministers Dilip Parulekar and Dayanand Mandrekar, Mapusa municipality chairperson Ryan Braganza, among others.
