Naik didn’t raise the issue of Monserrate’s criminal cases when Manohar Parrikar sought Monserrate’s support in the elections, Buyao said.

Asked if Congress would take up AAP’s challenge of making its candidate sign an affidavit stating that he wouldn’t join BJP or lend support to BJP-led government after getting elected, another Congress spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said the question doesn’t arise as in the affidavit Valmiki Naik has accepted that Congress is winning.

D’Mello said BJP decided to take a corrupt candidate rather than a clean man like Utpal Parrikar and added that the people will decide accordingly.
