NEW DELHI: With AAP and
Congress fielding their own candidates at all seven seats in Delhi, both parties are getting ready for a fierce battle in the Lok Sabha elections in the city.
“Congress is spreading a lie among the people that AAP is running away from alliance. To put the real face of Congress before the people, we postponed the nomination of our three candidates. We did so to give Congress more time so that it can take a decision,” AAP Delhi convener
Gopal Rai said on Monday.
Accusing Congress of taking a U-turn on alliance, Rai claimed the real character of Congress had surfaced during this period. Although AAP has clarified that there is no possibility of any alliance and Congress has announced most of its candidates in Delhi, a tie-up is technically possible till April 26, the last date of withdrawal of nomination.
“In Haryana, we are going to defeat BJP by putting up a united fight with Jannayak Janta Party. We will expose the dual face of Congress in Delhi,” said Rai.
In public speeches, AAP leaders are expected to intensify attack on Congress on full statehood and other issues while keeping BJP as their main target. Even while the alliance talks were going on, AAP’s national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, used to attack Congress over development work during its 15-year rule in Delhi.
AAP has already accused Congress president Rahul Gandhi of helping BJP.
