Since all these offices witness heavy rush on a daily basis, the move is a part of an exercise of the election department of the Chandigarh administration to motivate people, particularly youngsters, to join the biggest festival of democracy by casting their vote.

The election department of the Chandigarh administration has tied up with Bollywood star Ayushman Khurana as state icon and Vivek Dahiya, television actor, as Sveep ambassador.

The election department of the UT administration has prepared and sent creative standees to various offices, including the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA), hotels of CITCO, department of sports, department of tourism, banks, municipal corporation, estate office etc, to install them in their office premises.

The standees will also be seen at

Since hundreds of people visit these offices and hotels on a daily basis, the election department has found these to be ideal spots to display standees with pictures of Bollywood stars to motivate people to vote.

The department has also planned a few events with their brand ambassadors, namely Ayushman Khurana and Vivek Dahiya.

“We plan to invite them again to motivate people to vote and actively participate in voting,” said Arjun Sharma, joint chief electoral officer of the UT election department.

Radhika Singh, nodal officer of SVEEP, while talking to TOI, said: “Various street plays, meetings with multiple organisation have already been planned from next week to reach out to maximum people and encourage them to vote. We are also tying up with the tourism department for the same exercise. Hoardings have also been booked for spreading messages.”

Recently, the election department of the UT administration held a meeting with school principals and teachers of government and private schools. They have been told to give ‘Sankalp Patra’, a pledge letter, to schoolchildren which must be signed by their parents.
