CHANDIGARH: Putting up a united face, all three aspirants of BJP- sitting MP Kirron Kher, city BJP chief Sanjay Tandon and former city MP Satya Pal Jain- held a joint media briefing at their party office in Sector 33 on Friday to officially announce the commencement of 'Mein Bhi Chowkidar' campaign in the city.
Giving information about the program Sanjay Tandon said BJP is a starting a nationwide campaign, 'Mein Bhi Chowkidar', to convey that each and every citizen of the country who wants to protect this nation is a 'chowkidar'. As part of the program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual conference on March 31, 2019, which will be digitally broadcasted across at least 500 places across the nation out of which at least 16 locations will have interactive facilities.
He further added that during this campaign, BJP Chandigarh will be holding as many as 10 programs with different sections of society and professionals.
The campaign will include several initiatives like candle marches and street plays to generate awareness among people. He said Hari Shankar Mishra has been appointed the convener of the program for Chandigarh.
Later, sitting MP Kirron Kher officially kicked-off the campaign by putting on a special cap on Hari Shankar Mishra. Kirron Kher said it is ironical that leaders of opposition who are out on bail themselves use derogatory language to falsely accuse the Prime Minster.
Former city MP Satpal Jain on the occasion said Rahul Gandhi and other leader of the opposition tried to mock the Prime Minister by calling him 'chowkidar' in a derogatory way to imply he does not deserve to be the Prime Minister. He added that the campaign is to tell the Opposition that all citizens of the country are 'chowkidars' if they are vigilant.
