The details of assets were included in Bansal’s nomination papers submitted before UT deputy commissioner Mandip Brar on Friday.



According to the affidavit, Bansal’s movable assets are Rs 1.29 crore as compared to Rs 1.09 crore in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Documents revealed his wife Madhu Bansal has movable assets worth Rs 2.55 crore, which was Rs 1.6 crore in 2014.

Bansal’s movable assets includes Rs 56 lakh loan to Heritage Educational Society, which is running the

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh

, and a Honda City car purchased in 2013. Bansal also has 50 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs 1.60 lakh. Bansal’s wife has shown 2,407 grams of gold jewellery and 16 kg of silver.

Meanwhile, Bansal has shown the value of his immovable assets as Rs 5.60 crore, which was Rs 5.05 crore in 2014. Bansal’s immovable assets includes his 2 kanal house in Sector 28 A, Chandigarh, and under-construction flat by Punjab Legislators Co-op House Building Society,

Earlier in the day, there was an impressive turnout of Congress supporters in Bansal’s roadshow, which started from Congress Bhawan, Sector 35.

Bansal along with his wife Madhu were greeted with slogans, and thumping beats of dhol and cheers of slogans in his support when they reached the party office around 11am. Party president Pardeep Chhabra, Manish Bansal, Amit Bansal and several senior Congress leaders took part in the roadshow leading to the DC Office, Sector 17, where he filed his nomination papers. Bansal also went to the Gandhi Smarak in Sector 16 to pay obeisance to Mahatma Gandhi before heading to the returning officer’s office.
